Fowl Xpressions Custom Calls was founded in 2008 in Colorado Springs, CO. Our passion for the outdoors and the fowl life drove our ambition to start hand making high quality calls and bring back the old school way of doing things. Most of our calls are made to order but we do keep limited stock of popular items. When you place an order, we will get your call made and shipped to you as quickly as possible. We may not be able to box and ship your order immediately like some of the guys that mass produce and CNC calls, but this assures you that YOUR call is being HANDMADE specifically for YOU!
Some things that set us apart are:
All calls are completely made by hand. No CNC machines or duplicators used. Every call is just a touch unique to itself. We do not buy and use other company’s parts and pieces in our calls. All parts are designed, made, and cut by us. From bands to tone boards, we do it all.
The only materials we use for barrels and inserts are hard woods and cast or poured acrylics. We use local companies for all of our materials as much as possible. We do not use polycarbonate for any of our parts, with the exception of goose call guts. Pure acrylic is much harder and gives a like glass look to our finished products.
We start by drilling the calls on a press. Depending on the material, this can take anywhere from a couple of minutes to as much as 20 minutes per call!
All bands are cut by hand and then glued and pressed onto the barrel prior to turning the call. The bands are then cut at the same time as the barrel and then polished. This assures that the band is 100% symmetrical to the call and adds strength and a beautiful final product!
We design, turn, cut, and tune all of our own tone boards too! We don’t buy our tone boards and inserts to stick in our barrels and then turn around and sell them. All of our tone boards are cut to our specifications and then hand sanded and tuned to give us the sound WE want.
